It is easy to form an idealized image of siblings Christian and Lennon Nichols watching movies, exchanging demo recordings, and hashing out the dreamy, new-wave-informed soundtracks featured in this release. “Songs for Film” holds the pop sensibility of The Cure, moody atmospheres of The Chameleons, and contemporary likeness of projects like Body of Light and Drab Majesty. The result accomplishes something sweet & familiar but new and considerately inspired.
